Presto 01365 Review

The Presto 01365 6-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker Deluxe is the ideal solution if you’re rushing around and never seem to have enough time to make yourself a healthy, home-cooked balanced meal. With the Presto 01365 you don’t have to leave your house, you simply put the pressure cooker on the hob (gas, electric or induction – it works just as well on any of them) and leave it for the time given in the helpfully-supplied instruction manual slash recipe book.  Normally priced below $60 (see lowest price) this is a great entry level canner.

Built with materials designed that enable you to get the most out of your pressure cooker experience, the Presto 01365 is easy to clean (the inside and outside is made of stainless steel), heats the food evenly (thanks to the tri-clad base – which is composed of aluminium sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel) and is built to last – both metals are incredibly durable and resistant to shock, scratches etc. Not only that, but the Presto 01365 also makes use of food friendly safety features (such as the silicone overpressure plug, and vent pipe) to ensure that all meals you cook in the Presto 01365 are full of flavour, texture and nutrition.

The Presto 01365 cooks food 3 to 10 times faster than other cooking methods, saves you energy and therefore money, while simultaneously having a capability for cooking a balanced meal – soups, chicken, fish, meat and vegetables can all be cooked in the pressure cooker. Some foods that have the same cooking time can even be cooked at the same time in the single capacity space (thanks to the free stainless steel rack to keep separate the ingredients that don’t necessarily taste well together – or affect the texture and moisture of the other ingredients).

The Presto 01365 even monitors and regulates the internal pressure within the cooker so that you can leave it on its own while you go next door and assure yourself that everything’s definitely ready for dinner, table set etc. Even food like soup, foods that you normally have to watch over very carefully if you don’t want them to burn, can be left unsupervised and will cook evenly and thoroughly with the Presto 01365. That’s not to suggest that you won’t want to try some of the recipes in the instruction manual cum recipe booklet.

Our Presto 01365 Review

Presto 01365 Review

I was without a doubt most impressed by the 6-Quart size of the Presto 01365. The full implication of 5.7 litres was lost on me until I tried to make my normal casserole, I’d gathered everything together, using the same amount that I normally would do with a regular pan, put it in the bowl, ‘and is this really it?’

But the Presto 01365’s gargantuan size is most definitely an advantage as now, instead of only having the occasional good meal in the night time, I can double the amount I make and take some with me for lunch which ensures that at the very least I have two balanced healthy meals throughout the day, every day – which simply didn’t happen before I followed the advice of a friend and bought the Presto 01365.

The next things that I find exceptionally helpful about the Presto 01365 are the overpressure plug and the pressure regulator. I really appreciate the feeling of having at least some small part of the evening back to myself but yet still being able to eat hearty and healthy meals each night (the petite pumpkin custards taste phenomenal) and the following lunchtime.

Another thing that I really REALLY enjoy about my Presto 01365 is the extended 12 year limited warranty that Presto have given out with it, so if anything ever goes wrong, although I’ve yet to see yet a single indication that something is even remotely awry with mine (and I have the worst luck with cooking appliances), that Presto will repair and or replace it free of charge. Think about it – it takes less time to go through high school! I’m smitten with my Presto 01365 and I’m so grateful to Presto for creating such a reliable product.

Presto 01365 Best Features

  • Inner sealing ring, the very simple component that allows the high pressure to be generated in the first place, enabling the healthier method of cooking to be employed from the comfort of my own home.
  • Cover lock, a part of the pressure cooker that (fortunately) prevents me from burning myself, which I’m sure I would do without the cover lock.
  • Stainless Steel Rack, I’m fussy about my food touching which is one of the reasons that creating a healthy and balanced meal at home was such a chore. However with the stainless steel rack, I no longer have this problem (not to mention the fact that it has handles doesn’t exactly hurt either)

With many of our readers looking for an affordable pressure cooker, the Presto 01365 may just fill this gap. It’s slightly more expensive than other Presto models, but you do get a better quality of cooking overall.

Presto 01365 Pressure Cooker Conclusion

Having now had my Presto 01365 for a little over two years, I have to say I’d be hard-pressed to find a more reliable and helpful kitchen appliance. This pressure cooker always seems able to help me out no matter what different meal type or size that I need it for (though I’ve never needed to feed more than six people), it fits nicely on top of my stove and cooks for me. Why don’t you get one too and experience my reasoning for yourself?

I’ve been married 47 years and have had 3 Presto Pressure Cookers. The latest one I purchased was Model 01362 and for the 1st time in all these years I almost got burned from it. The rubber release valve on the lid blew off and the juices within sprayed everywhere. It was fortunate that I was on the other side of the kitchen when this happened. Very poor model design and it was over $50 when I bought it a few years ago.

Yikes, that’s pretty scary. Did you contact the company about it?

Mine won’t always seal. Cleaned and oiled sealing ring, got new one.

What sealing ring do I order?
