Pressure Cooker 3 Litre Reviews

Pressure cookers come in all different shapes and sizes. The typical stovetop or countertop electric pressure cookers for the average household (a 4 or 5-person family) are around 6 or 8 quarts. Mini pressure cookers are smaller than 3 quarts, such as a 1- or 2-quart capacity. 3 Litre pressure cookers are a good in-between size; they’re not as tiny as a mini cooker but not as large as a full-sized one.

1 Litre isn’t much larger than 1 quart, so 3-Litres is equal to approximately 3.17 quarts. Usually, pressure cookers that are made internationally are measured in Litres rather than quarts because it’s a common measurement used in foreign countries. Don’t let it confuse you too much, they’re almost equal.

Most 3 Litre pressure cookers are designed for the stovetop and are not electric. They serve up to 3 or 4 people, depending on what kind of food you make with it. That’s 3 to 4 people who are eating small portions. You can expect that these pressure cookers will each weigh around 4 lbs.

3-Litre Pressure Cookers Made by Hawkins

The kitchenware brand, Hawkins, has a couple of good options to choose from for 3 Litre pressure cookers. They make multiple cookers in other sizes as well, from mini to commercial size. The 3 Litre ones are the Hawkins Classic 3 Litre Aluminum or the Hawkins Ceramic Coated Contura 3 Litre. They also offer a stainless steel 3 Litre pressure cooker, which you can also find on Amazon, but we’ll just be talking about the first two today.

Hawkins Classic 3-Litre Aluminum Pressure Cooker

Aluminum pressure cookers are cheaper than pressure cookers made of other types of metal because it’s lesser quality. Stainless steel is the better option and is non-stick. But if an aluminum cooker is what you’re looking for, this is the one Hawkins makes. The main pot is made from aluminum, but the handle is high-quality plastic. The handlebar and lid are both non-corroding, which contributes to why these pressure cookers last so long. It may not be able to slow cook or can foods like the way multi-cookers can, but it doubles as a regular pot to cook with on the stove. That way, if you ever want to use it for regular cooking and then switch to pressure cooking, you can just throw the lid on and go. Only down-side: it’s NOT induction compatible.

Hawkins also makes this ceramic-coated pressure cooker. It’s much more fun looking than the plain aluminum one. The external coating is scratch-resistant and stain-resistant and helps your food cook more evenly. The picture above shows the Tomato Red color option, but they also offer ones in Mustard Yellow or Apple Green. The best part about using this pressure cooker is that it’s super easy to clean.

Sometimes the bulky countertop pressure cookers are time-consuming to clean because some can only be hand-washed and the ones that can be run through the dishwasher still have to be completely taken apart before doing so. This cooker is so much more convenient.

Other 3-Litre Pressure Cookers

Hawkins isn’t the only brand that makes 3 Litre pressure cookers. Many other brands make them, such as Prestige, Butterfly, Futura, Cuckoo, Buffalo and so on. All of these brands are available on Amazon. I say Amazon because they have a pain-free refund policy for all products bought through their site. Amazon also seems to be where people buy everything nowadays, so it’s nice to know that you can even purchase pressure cookers on it.

Here are two pressure cookers, made by Prestige and Butterfly.

Prestige Alpha Deluxe Induction Base Stainless Steel 3-Litre Pressure Cooker

The name may be a mouthful, but you won’t be laughing when you use this pressure cooker and see how great it works. Prestige is another brand that specializes in pressure cookers and has been making them for a long time. They have pressure cooker designs in many different shapes and sizes, and they’re all super reliable gadgets to have.

You’ll never mess up your food cooking with this. You can even buy metal separators to put inside the cooker so that you can pressure cook multiple different foods at once. Although, the separators may work better in one of their larger sized pressure cookers because this one is small. It only weighs 5 lbs. It’s surprising that it only received 3 out of 5 stars on Amazon, since the majority of people who have used it, love it.

Butterfly Stainless Steel Curve 3-Litre Pressure Cooker

Stainless steel pressure cookers do a better job at keeping a steady internal temperature in your food and are less likely to burn food than ones made of aluminum. This is one of the more appealing 3 Litre pressure cookers because of its curvy and classy shape. You’ll be pleased to hear; it is induction compatible.

Is a 3-Litre Pressure Cooker Too Small?

With the many sizes of pressure cookers available, it can get confusing on what to buy. A good rule of thumb to go by is 1 quart to 1 person. If you usually cook for four people, your best bet will be a 4-quart pressure cooker, 6-Quart for 5 or 6 people, and so on. A single quart is almost equal to a single litre, technically 1 Litre = 1.057 quarts.

Once you have figured out the capacity size of pressure cooker you need to look for, it’s time to think about what brand you’d prefer to use. For small pressure cookers, like a mini or 3-Litre cooker, Hawkins or Prestige are good brands to go with. They both make reliable, durable and functional cookware. For bigger sizes, you’ll want to take a look at the pressure cookers made by brands like Instant Pot or Presto. Instant Pot makes electric pressure cookers, and Presto typically makes stovetop ones.
